bakkot: anyway, modulo that and "currently a prototype getter" (which seems ominous), it seems okay to me. Jake Archibald might have more thoughts.

No additional thoughts. The proposal seems reasonable to me. I was unsure about the new way of adding a callback at first, but it seems fine.

Yeah, I wonder if we can think of a slightly nicer API for that, but indeed, seems fine.

annevk this is my attempt to avoid shipping the org chart

re: prototype getter, I wouldn't be trying to change that on the web but it's possible people will want other platforms to be able to make it an own property, which, whatever

<bakkot>
I think it'll probably not even need that though, should be ok to spec it as a prototype getter everywhere

<annevk>
Hah fair! Well, I hope you succeed and we can mostly forget about this except when retelling old standardization tales

that's the dream!

Is PR Preview working for html repo?

I saw some messages here about working/not working, and I'm trying to trigger it for a PR of mine to make it easier for reviewers to have a look but I haven't had much success so far. From what I see it's not working for other recent PRs either (this one for example).

Is there any trick to trigger it or any workaround folks are using in the meantime?

Hi everyone! I've got a question about percent-encoding in file: URLs.

What should a file: URL consumer do with a percent-encoded path separator?

For example, given:

file:///foo%2Fbar

WHATWG URL parsing treats %2F as part of the path rather than as a path separator. But a consumer converting the URL to a filesystem path has to decide whether this should become:

  • /foo/bar
  • /foo%2Fbar
  • an error

Is there a specified or recommended behavior for this conversion, or is it intentionally left to the implementation?

If this has already been discussed somewhere, I'd really appreciate a link to the relevant discussion or specification.
Thanks in advance!
