GPHemsley: IIRC you’re the admin for https://wiki.whatwg.org/wiki/Main_Page. If so I could use your help: When logged out I can view any page there as expected, but when logged in, every time I try to view any page there I just get “A database query error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software.”

<MikeSmith>
Domenic: why do custom element names allow U+200C and U+200D ('ZERO WIDTH NON-JOINER' and 'ZERO WIDTH JOINER')
08:18
<annevk>
MikeSmith: does XML not?
08:19
<MikeSmith>
annevk: dunno
08:19
<MikeSmith>
are the allowe characters based on what is allowed in XML names?
08:21
<MikeSmith>
ah OK am looking at https://www.w3.org/TR/xml/#NT-NameStartChar now
08:22
<MikeSmith>
seems weird allow non-printing characters in element names
08:23
<annevk>
MikeSmith: intersection of XML and HTML iirc
08:23
<MikeSmith>
OK
08:24
<MikeSmith>
well it seems bad to allow names that won’t survive simple copy/paste
08:25
<MikeSmith>
or maybe rather that if a user types the name manually based on looking and it, but ends up with something different despite no visual/observable difference
08:57
<annevk>
MikeSmith: restricting artificial code points can also make things trickier
10:05
<MikeSmith>
so “foo-” is a valid custom element name?
10:05
<MikeSmith>
based on https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/scripting.html#valid-custom-element-name
10:06
<MikeSmith>
that is, the name can end in a hypher?
10:06
<MikeSmith>
*hyphen
12:14
<annevk>
MikeSmith: yeah think so
12:14
<MikeSmith>
OK
13:30
<MikeSmith>
GPHemsley: and now I get no error any longer when logged in and visiting the wiki. Go figure
21:51
<weinig>
really trivial spec question to ether, should the IDL for HTMLImageElement (https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/embedded-content.html#the-img-element) have the referrerPolicy attribute use the enum defined in https://w3c.github.io/webappsec-referrer-policy/#referrer-policy?
21:55
<Domenic>
weinig: no, but it's a tricky question...
21:55
<Domenic>
weinig: until recently we never used enums for reflected attributes
21:55
<weinig>
I see
21:55
<Domenic>
We introduced the first one for <link as>, but that's controversial because we bundled that with the decision that the reflection should be case-sensistive

<Domenic>

<weinig>
Domenic: cool cool, thanks
