<salty-horse>
hi. is this a good place to ask questions about the html5 spec?
10:30
<MikeSmith>
salty-horse: yes
10:44
<salty-horse>
great. in <https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/canvas.html#2dcontext:canvasrenderingcontext2d-19>; it's explained what happens when setting a canvas to "alpha: false". is it correct that the alpha=false state should be kept when the canvas's width/height is changed? it's an old bug in firefox that I'm trying to fix, and I want to make sure I understand the spec https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1219985

<MikeSmith>
salty-horse: dunno but if you hang around somebody else on the channel will probably eventually respond
11:12
<MikeSmith>
Philip` maybe

<MikeSmith>
salty-horse: reading https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/canvas.html#concept-canvas-set-bitmap-dimensions I see no mention of UA requirements to make any change to the alpha boolean when seeing the width and height
11:16
<MikeSmith>
given that, then yeah it’s correct that the alpha=false state should be kept when the canvas's width/height is changed
11:17
<MikeSmith>
for a UA to do otherwise would be non-conforming
11:17
<salty-horse>
that's what I thought. thanks.

<MikeSmith>
yeah, because in general, unless the spec explictly says in some algorithm that something must change as a result of that algorithm running, then it must not change as a result of that algorithm runnig
